Should you be able to time out during an s3?

I was fighting a Sentinel in AQ map 6 with Hyperion, and used my s3 when they were at 6% health left. During the s3 cutscene, the timer ran out and I got the "time over" message. The cutscene continued, and by the end of it, it showed the Sentinel with 0% health.
However, I was sent out of the fight and the sentinel was still there with 6% health left and my Hyperion under half health.
I know that previously, we've had the fight continue if the timer runs out during the s3 cutscene, but did you change this recently?
