How many 4* to rank up to R4 before saving up for R5?

Would appreciate any input on which hero to rank up in my roster, I.e to rank up my R3 or save for the R4. Thank you!

    What are your goals? Are you interested in clearing story content or alliance quests/wars?

    Probably to clear content and occasionally AQ only

    Darkhawk, Iceman, Spidey and when you dupe Aegon. All of them take them to rank 5, in no particular order.
