Issue when duping max champs

I've always been told that it was bad to sell champs because you get double the rewards for duping a max champ. I've duped quite a few max 3* and a few max 4* but only get base amounts for duping. For example, I duped my maxxed 4* Hype recently and only received 275 5* shards, 24 cosmic t5 iso and x amount of gold. Not sure if this is a bug or if the information about duping max champs is a myth.
