Increase in featured champ crystal duration

RotellyRotelly Member Posts: 774 ★★★
For the first 14 week duration we will likely have one additional new champion in the pool vs past crystals, does this mean additional champs will be added to offset new vs old champs or will we just have an increased opportunity to pull a new champ vs old one?

    Huh?

That’s a good point tbh, if there are still 6 we’d gradually go back in releases and have a huge break between champs being added

    Huh?

all new champs that come out in between feature crystals released are in the new crystal. Since it was on a 12 week cycle that meant 6 new champs except in a leap month like this. Since they are going to a 14 week cycle it will mean 7 new champs every new featured crystal.

If we look at past pools you had a 25% chance of pulling a champ new to MCOC, 25% of pulling a champ new to 6* pool and 50% of pulling an existing champ

With the new 6* crystal available on 11/18 the odds will change to 29.16% chance of pulling a champ new to MCOC assuming only 24 champs are in the crystal

    Current 6* Featured Crystal
    (Existing/New) Abomination
    (Existing) Deadpool (X-Force)
    (New) Ebony Maw
    (Existing) Drax
    (Existing) Gamora
    (Existing) Green Goblin
    (Existing) Hawkeye
    (Existing) Hood
    (Existing/New) Howard
    (New) Invisible Woman
    (Existing) Iron Fist
    (Existing) Masacre
    (Existing) Mordo
    (New) Mysterio
    (New) Namor
    (Existing/New) Old Man Logan
    (Existing) Punisher 2099
    (Existing) Sentry
    (New) Spider-Man (Stealth)
    (New) Sunspot
    (Existing/New) Superior Iron Man
    (Existing/New) Taskmaster
    (Existing/New) Venom
    (Existing) YellowJacket

    New - 6 (25%)
    Existing - 12
    Existing/New - 6

    Future 6* Featured Crystal
    (New) Warlock
    (New) Black Widow (CV)
    (New) Vision (Aarkus)
    (New) Elsa Bloodstone
    (New) Man-Thing
    (New) Guillotine 2099
(New 11/14) Mr Fantastic or Dr Doom

    New - 7 (29.16%)

Yes that is correct, so are we going to 28 champs to maintain the existing ratio of 25% likelihood of pulling a new champ or are we staying at 24 champs

I wouldn’t assume the contents of the crystals are changing. Maybe I’m missing something but nothing has been said about the 6 newest unreleased champions being changed to 7.

When the new crystal comes out there will be 7 unreleased champs

Where is it stated that this will change the crystal contents? Iirc the announcement of featured crystals is the 6 latest champs will be added.

So either the champ released on 11/14 won't be included in the crystal or warlock since is no longer within the last 6 released champs

    Future 6* Featured Crystal
    (New) Warlock
    (New) Black Widow (CV)
    (New) Vision (Aarkus)
    (New) Elsa Bloodstone
    (New) Man-Thing
    (New) Guillotine 2099
(New 11/14) Mr Fantastic or Dr Doom

Assuming they want to keep testing newer champs then id say that well stay at 6 champs and not increase to 7

If they dont change it to 7 then the rotation does not work. Look at it like this

New crystal comes out 7 new champs came out in that period of time

new crystal 6 left over 1
New crystal 6 left over 2
New crystal 6 left over 3

You have to release the same number that has come out or you will get a backlog of unreleased champs that are on a 28 week wait, ever growing.

Maybe this is why hoarding crystal shards is bad for gameplay.....

I’m fairly certain it will still be 6 champions per crystal, champions are going to be released slightly less frequently and I assume the 2 extra weeks are to accommodate for that

That could easily be the intent, hard to say not knowing.

Here’s how they’ve been defined, until they’re redefined the content of future crystals would be an assumption.

    5*
Introducing the new 5-Star Featured Hero Crystal! This brand new crystal is pretty different than anything we’ve done in the past, and will give you a chance at 6 recently released Champions at a time.

The crystal will be updated every 3 months, and will include a pool of 18 curated Champions, and the last 6 Featured Champions. After 3 months, 18 new Champions will fill the Basic pool, and the next 6 Champions will become the Featured Champions. For example, the first Featured Champion crystal will go live on February 13th, and will feature Thor (Ragnarok), Hela, Taskmaster, MODOK, Sentry and Void, plus 18 other Champions.

    6*
The 6-Star Featured Hero Crystal will function similarly to the 5-Star Featured Hero Crystal. It will feature 6 New Champions, as well as 18 other Champions. This crystal will also feature old Champions that have not yet been released as 6-Star Champions! The Crystal will be available for 12 weeks, at which time it will be replaced with a new Featured 6-Star Hero Crystal featuring the next 6 Featured Champions.

eventually though as I pointed out champions will have to wait 2, 3, 4 and more cycles, at some point they would need to have 2 features at the same time to catch up. Also champions will still be released roughly the same, just about 2 less per year.

There shouldn't be any changes to the Crystal itself, outside the change in duration. There will still be 6 new Champions per Featured Crystal.

This new Featured 6-Star Crystal will not include Dr Doom or Mr Fantastic.

I don't think they want to catch up is thier point. I think this is what is going to allow them the time to make adjustments.

@Kabam Miike does that mean we will have a crystal overlap at some point? Because champs will gradually get backlogged

I dont think you understand, this will mean eventually a champ will be waiting a year plus to get into featured, let alone basic.

@Kabam Miike I could be wrong but if the first crystal doesn't contain Doom or Fantastic then in February when the new crystal comes out it will have 7 champs

Nov 18 (Start) (New Champ on Nov 14)
Nov 25 (Week 1) (New Champ on Nov 28)
    Dec 2 (Week 2)
Dec 9 (Week 3) (New Champ on Dec 12)
    Dec 16 (Week 4)
Dec 23 (Week 5) (New Champ on Dec 28)
    Dec 30 (Week 6)
Jan 6 (Week 7) (New Champ on Jan 9)
    Jan 13 (Week 8)
Jan 20 (Week 9) (New Champ on Jan 23)
    Jan 27 (Week 10)
    Feb 3 (Week 11)
Feb 10 (Week 12) (New Champ on Feb 13)
    Feb 17 (Week 13)
    Feb 24 (End)

Mike, how are you dealing with the backlog of champions from the crystal release to the featured pool, if you do not increase the number of champions after each crystal there will be a backlog that grows every single crystal.

Youll still be able to get them from arenas and singular featured tho. Aka the 48 hrs crystals. Cavaliers and grandmasters.

So you can only get them if you buy them from their special crystal, or like 300 people max (assuming no dupes) can get them from arenas. cav and grandmasters only pull from the basic unless it is specifically their own crystal

This is really great for whales like me, I can get that next Korg/Thing and level him up giving my alliance an advantage in war knowing there is not many out there are not many out there. to compete with.

Let me guess, the most sought after champ will be the one that wont be added to the featured so ppl are forced to only get them thru spending money. That doesn't seem fair. I dont consider arena a reliable source for new champs when bots have pushed the points needed to over 90 million.

They let the content creators announce the remaining 2019 champs a month ago, and Silver Surfer is the final champion. We know Reed & Doom are November.

  • RotellyRotelly Member Posts: 774 ★★★
That would leave too much money on the Table to only have one new champ in December
