Return player doubts

I stopped playing the game 8 months back due to personal issues but am returning now after solving them. I was a 150k player at that time with a well developed roster.Due to foolish idea I sold 95% of my champs,I kept just my 5* and a couple of 4* just for a final battle. I am planning to return back , I don't care about bugs,arena and all stuff which makes players leave but I have a few doubts:
1) I would like to get the new champs but I have dried out most of the sources of free crystal and wasted them by selling my champs , can I as a 600+ days account have fair chance of getting new champs from crystals? Or would a new account be better
2) the old forums are gone and the new one just doesn't have info on any of the changes made , character nerfs etc.. where to find them?
3) I am playing again just for fun so would it be possible to build a good roster back without massive grind of arenas. I still have time constraints and can't do arenas
4) Should I continue the old account or move to new one ( though I dread the thought of grinding again)?
5) Can I find an alliance easily?
ps: I know I did a big blunder by selling champs so I don't need that talk again

The only benefit of a new account is that it will increase your chances of winning featured heroes from arenas. The only real competition in the new player bracket (<30 days) and intermediate bracket (<60 days) are "money players" who refresh their best scoring heroes often. But it doesn't look like you have the time to do arena anyway so a new account won't help you.

So stay with your current account and join an alliance that allows you to accumulate premium hero shards from alliance events.

In addition to alliance events, alliances that are also active in alliance wars would help. Regardless if you win, you always get something from AW as long as you participate.

Finally, grind the arenas for milestones. In particular, get the shards. You don't need to do all of the milestones. Just do them at your own pace. If you have the time, aim for 350k points in the 4-star arena.
