I think Kabam should restore gifting in some limited functionality. For instance possibility to gift crystals (limited number per day) but only among alliance members (same lockout period as for donations).
This would enable team leaders to organize some competitions/challenges among members with all members funding the rewards for some winners. Would be additional fun within the game
