V4 power drain fail

I’ve just fought the strike back kingpin in the first chapter of variant 4 using Hawkeye. Is there something I’ve missed in kingpins abilities for the past 2 years that would cause hawkeyes power drain your fail against him? It only started happening in the later part of the fight, once he was below 40%.
