Can't use a 2016 rank up gem?

I have a 2016 mutant 3 > 4 rank up gem that I'm trying to use on Colossus. I also have a normal mutant 3 > 4 rank up gem. When I try to upgrade I only see the normal gem with a cost of 407k gold. How can I use the 2016 gem instead?

Never mind I figured out how to tell which one it's using. Have to tap on the gem. Carry on.

As your sow and find out and 2016 wil always cost gold for now and probably for ever
