Unblockable question

Why can Thing block and unblockable attack when he is unstoppable? If I launch an unblockable special it would stand to reason that he could trade blows but not completely negate the unblockable buff. What’s the point of having it, if it can be countered by blocking?

How's the damage look like? Sometimes against an unstoppable opponent, even if blocked, the special attack deals regular damage.
But still, Thing should be able to block it. Is one of those scenarios where there is an unstoppable force against an immovable object.

It's gone now. I was venting in a moment of frustration with the hall of heroes but for damn sure I launch my special removing the rock stacks he takes one shot then goes unstoppable and blocks the rest of my special. I was beside myself.
