AW: Any merits for 3* max rank champs in place of 4* rank 4?

I placed only 4* champs as defenders (AW) and I am thinking if there are convincing arguments to put two or three max rank 3*s.

The 3*s would be SIM (tile 40), Hyperion (powergain tile), Spider-Man (until the evade attack bug is fixed).

Pros:
1/ Free up the 4*s for attack and AQ
2/ Can try out the OP 3*s to test if effective

Cons:
1/ Points penalty on placing weaker champs
2/ Alliance may kick me
3/ Gives confidence to opponent on seeing 3*s?
4/ Is it really a [good] or workable idea?

Any thoughts?
My alliance hovering between Tier 12-14 if it matters.

3*'s have no use in AW defense especially if you're alliance is in that tier. They have lower health than the average 4* you see in defense and are highly likely to give the opponent the upper hand for those easy kills. Its better to use 4*'s than 3*'s in AW, you may end up paired with an alliance double your alliance's total prestige.

No. What DLegend said. Only way I can see it is if it gives some massive synergy to your 4* and you can place it out of the way where it probably won't get fought.
