Are these the ways in which we can expect to see an increase in 5* availability? Or will see something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to get.

It's just the start as far as 5* shard offers go this is the best one we've seen yet so availability in game will proportionally increase. Back a a year and a bit four stars we're extremely rare and the only way to consistently get them was to but the 2,500 unit offer for a four star crystal and now we have offers for 2 four stars for 850 dollars worth of units, 5 stars will take a similar availability path.

Don't forget all the signature stones you get. But usually kabams business model is "step 1. Make something hard to obtain. step 2. After long period of time, release great deal for hard to obtain item. Step 3. Make hard to obtain item available to every one, but slightly watered down"
