Black Widow movie postponed: ramifications?

So, Disney/Marvel Studios have (as many might've expected) announced the Black Widow movie is being postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Does this mean the inevitable tie-in event will go ahead regardless, get delayed to later and if the latter, do we get a month with no update or will Kabam move up the next events to cover?

Well, we can assume they'll have an Event, but nothing has been announced yet. It's hard to say if they'll run it anyway or not. That's up to them and Marvel. As for the last question, no. I can't see there being a month of nothing.

This will prod the studios to offer on-demand day of theater release.

I think Kabam might move the schedule up, and will hold off on the Black Widow event until it’s released. Then again, they didn’t do that for New Mutants.

i don't know why they just don't go ahead and release on demand .. you can re-release it in theaters after but you stand to gain quite a bit of your return by going on demand out the gate .. $19.99 a pop or even $14.99 i think would be reasonable for a new release straight to on demand. and i mean own ... renting for a day or two $5 or $10 would work.

Maybe they can just make another deadpool event and blame everything on him

New movies released as on demand rentals are going to be $19.99 for 48 hours. Universal has already announced they will be doing that.

Per the National Association of Theatre Owners:

Although there has been speculation in the media that the temporary closure of theaters will lead to accelerated or exclusive releases of theatrical titles to home streaming, such speculation ignores the underlying financial logic of studio investment in theatrical titles. To avoid catastrophic losses to the studios, these titles must have the fullest possible theatrical release around the world. While one or two releases may forgo theatrical release, it is our understanding from discussions with distributors that the vast majority of deferred releases will be rescheduled for theatrical release as life returns to normal.

Hopefully kabam postpones whatever widow related event and just swaps it with another month's event
