Question about contact making?

I was fighting Korg and i noticed that Sparky's heavy Attack is dealing his thorn damage and Ghost rider's SP2 fire was also taking that. Can you please tell me why? Why are they contact making attacks? even wasp first medium was doing same (not sure). Please Kabam tell me why are they contact making attacks?

    All of those are attacks that make contact with the opponent. Meaning that they are not projectile attacks.
