Why is Mojo a mystic?

I know there’s some characters/classes that are a real stretch, but I’m seeing no connection here whatsoever.

I’m not super familiar with the source material, am I missing something?

    There's no need for a connection, or at least is not that essential.

    He was just designed to be a mystic champion. His abilities were also designed to fit the mystic class in some way
