On Timeouts and the upcoming "Fix"

Now that we know they will be addressing something that felt somewhat like an exploit, but was definitely working as intended, I wanted to talk about other possible options. I'm sure the dev teams have considered lots, but here are my thoughts:

Increase timeout time to 15 minutes
  • Harder to have it be a realistic, multi-attempt strategy
  • Still won't have a true crash make a lane "stuck"
  • Doesn't change the mechanic, but does change what might be considered abuse
Death if less than 5% (what they implemented)
  • Penalizes long fights (legitimate timeouts on King Groot and mini-bosses, for example)
  • Breaks a known and documented mechanic of Corvus
Just round down
  • Only affects one health, half the time
  • Corvus's timeout with 1 health becomes .05, rounded down to 0, affects no other champs
  • Breaks a known and documented mechanic of Corvus
  • Definitely requires compensation for Corvus, single champion adjustment to non-bug
