How RNG is being used to ruin the game

I have been playing this game since a month after it was launched. I know 1st hand that rng has always been part of the equation. Champs were never chosen, crystals were always spun. As the game progressed, more champs were introduced only further pushing the rng aspect. Up until act 5, this was ok and in some ways even a POSITIVE. Since act 4 and act 5 content did not require specific counters, (except for maybe og ultron) the rng aspect was never an issue. It actually allowed thi game to flourish because people were able to have success with unique rosters. Also, the rewards for these Act 4 and act 5 further promoted the rng aspect of the game by giving generic 4* and 5* awakening gems. It was not until act 6 where rng has become red tape. Due to the massive counter requirements as well as the rng based rewards coupled with the fact that crystal pools have become enormous, the dynamics of the game have completely changed. RNG once was a tool that allowed for uniqueness and a better game experience. Now, it is used to hold back accounts and promote spending on cav crystals.

What's the difference from when Realm of Legends was introduced? Back then it was still about RNG because you needed the right champ to advance. The only thing that has changed is the pool of champs is much larger and there is more higher end content, but there principle remains the same, RNG will always dictate when someone can advance faster.

Btw, my ROL team way back when was r4 4* x-23 who beat everyone but SW and Wolvie. My maced 4* OG Cap took out SW while 3* Guilly took out Wolvie. Today is similar, just with 5 and 6*s for the current content. Those who don't understand the use of particular 4*s for ROL won't understand the true meaning of progression that was required back in the day!

The thing is ROL can be done with any any character although some take more time then others it was definitely doable with all Champs the only fight that required a specific Champ was Wolverine but since the roster was way smaller back then it was way easier to pull these counters but nowadays due to the fact that the crystals are way more diverse now it is harder to get counters for stuff like 6.3 Medusa, 6.2 mister sinister, and so on.

At first I thought you were going to go on and complain like 99.99% of these people do when they get bad pulls. But you really summed it up the way the player base feels.

You are truly right sure there has always been RNG in the game. I started in jan of 2016 and thought every pull was amazing. I was just happy to dupe or even get a new champ. As time progressed so did my thought process began watching videos, meeting new people who help guide me along.

Came act 5, my roster was decent but I made up for it by practicing. Honing my skills and understanding nodes and counters. 100% with no crazy issues (Definitely spent units but you know it was definitely enjoyable and fun).

Came 6.1 it took a while so I was able to really build my roster, a few BAD 6 stars a few good 4/55 and 2 5/65s. This is where the fun began to drop. 6.1 wasn’t horrible but definitely required more than what you were getting in RNG.

Came 6.2-6.4 and act 7 beta. This is where RNG really hurts you. When I cleared 6.4 I pulled a 6 star Loki and a 6 star Nova (he’s cool but unpractical). I cleared the grandmaster and got dumpster diving trash and a cool mechanic champ but that won’t really do much. Now it was my fault I accidentally went for the feature and then the basic 6 star. When you clear a fight like grandmaster I’m not saying let me chose a champ like ghost, namor, sym, marvel movie, beardo, Aegon, but maybe narrow it down somehow to reward your game play. Taking down the grandmaster and going through some of the hardest and most BS content kabam has ever launched isn’t easy. Don’t reward us with trash can champs like loki, IP, magneto, iron fist, karnak, blackbolt.

Rng is cool is makes the gambling of spinning (even though the spin doesn’t matter) fun. But not when you put in major work in story content. Rng in war rewards, event quest, side quests. Is fine. Not in act 6, 7 and beyond.
