Amplifiers at AW defense

Some players in my alliance use amplifiers during positioning, the hero's rating goes up, but the question is... When the attack phase starts, does the defender stay with + 20% atk/def, etc? Some think so, others don't.
Does anyone know the truth? I looked up the topic on the forum and found only one discussion from 2017, but no answer.

    That stopped working years ago and anyone still believing it does work for defence is just wasting boosts.
