Sample collectors refund

It is mentioned while entering modok island quest that those sample collectors will be refunded if one quit the quest or time is up. But I didn't get refund of sample collectors after quiting the quest which I found difficult to play and I noticed that those aren't being refunded after quiting 3 quests. It means I lost 3 sample collectors . Does any others face this problem while playing?

    Warning: You will be locked to the chosen difficulty until the Quest is completed or closed. Upon Entry, the Quest must be completed within the specified time period. The start cost will have to be REPAID if you leave or time out.

    Nothing about a refund. use it or lose it.
