Is Colossus good without being awakened and without synergies?

I have a colossus at rank 3 hoping that someday he will be awakened. How much does he benefit from his sig ability?
Also is Colossus still good without any synergies?

    He’s fine without synergies, although they can really significantly improve him.

    He’s also fine unawakened, you just need to rely on spamming s1s a lot to build him up, so unless you run recoil, it’s all good.
