Changes to despair mastery?

I’m going to edit this thread when I find references, but I know for sure that it has been previously stated that if enough debuffs are applied, the despair mastery can reverse (rather than simply reduce) healing abilities. But apparently the support team have different information?

Despair by itself was never able to reverse healing about.
You need to combine it with a petrify effect, or something that can actually reverse healing abilities.

No, you didn’t. It definitely helped, but if you stacked enough debuffs (changes depending on which level you were running at the time) you could reverse.

But even if you’re correct, the reply clearly says it no longer can when combined with other debuffs, and based on the 2 champs mentioned, seems relatively obvious it’s referring to petrify.

Despair didn’t reverse it capped at 100%
If you face someone with recovery mastery they would still heal the difference

Ok, rather than debate that aspect, let’s focus on response from support. “Can no longer reverse regen as it used to be” That’s not a change that worry’s you?

It won't reverse heal unless you apply debuffs like petrify. You can, however, apply enough DOT debuffs that will stop the regen and thus outdamage it. Like Hyperion vs ROL Wolverine. With maxed despair, if you spam your SP1 and RNG gives you several stacks of incinerate, at around 7-8 or more stacks, you will be able to outdamage his regeneration. But it's not reversing it, it's simply shutting it down so the DOTs can do damage without healing back all the damage being done.

I think there’s a confusing visual because if you stack enough debuffs a bunch of 1-damage ticks show up? But that’s basically a rounding error. However, it does stack with petrify, so a small petrify can reverse healing with enough other debuffs.
