How did any of us get off of “5”s

I’ve seen many, many posts here and in Line and other chats on how many 5* shards.
And how others, like me, have 9999 shards. (Soooooo close)
My question is, if all “rewards”, dupes, and other rewards are in multiples of 5 ( resulting in either a 5 or 0 for last digit) what caused me to get off that cycle?
I’ve been playing since early 2015 and I can’t recall any different number scheme even when I AM sober (which is not now)

    Some of the random crystal shard crystals give off amounts. The Chinese New Year event usually gives amounts ending in 8 as well.

    Edit; thought it was 7, maybe that was a different event

    The Chinese New Year tickets are in denominations of 8. So you could’ve gotten 88 or 888 5* shards at some point a couple of times. Along with other small rewards that are not in multiples of 5s or 0s

    Thank you for reminding me of those. I didn’t recall those crystals being “off 5”

    We don’t really fully explore war in off season so that gives random 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9 shards
