Well, whoever has a family or a time demanding job knows how difficult it is sometimes to be a part of an alliance, you will find alliance leaders all around advertising their alliances as chill or relaxed but ultimately you won't be able to even join the game to explore the content you really like without having people on your back constantly trying to force you to join AQ or AW, it turns into a second job.
The only real benefit behind being part of an alliance is having access to resources you won't have access to without joining one such as glory, glory allows you to get access to catalysts that are not that easy to obtain by other means, therefore if you really want to improve your champs you are forced to join an alliance.
Why should be people to join an alliance to be able to have access to resources such as glory? Why can't glory be, for example, a reward for individual quests? I mean, is not like giving people options would destroy alliances, you could still look for one or create you own if you really like stuff like AQ or AW or playing with other people, but what if you don't? No options there, join an alliance or get stuck
