AW Map Question

We strattle the fence of Silver 1 and Gold 3 all season, Gold 3 has 9 paths and Silver 1 has 6 paths, rn we're at the top of Silv 1, placement we noticed the 9 paths, so we figured we're going against a Gold 3 alliance, attack phase comes, its against another silver 1. Why do we have this map and neither of us are Gold 3? It only take 6 of us clear Silver 1 and unfortunately we dont have enough in this bg (8) to clear all 9 paths, usually why we fall back to Silver 1. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
