Magnet Blocks Matador?

I was playing as Magneto (red) in Variant 4 in the 4* chapter. I was using him against Crossbones who is obviously a metal character so magnet was placed on him. The nodes on this fight include Matador but whenever crossbones would use his special attacks I would not gain power, which I assume was due to the ability accuracy reduction from Magnet. Is this the intended interaction? If so, why would ability accuracy reduction on the enemy affect you so negatively in this way?

Thas always had been the case. Ability accuracy reduction is stopping the node from working

aar shuts down abilities of the opponent, and nodes are modifications to the abilities of the opponent, even positive ones.
