But I already have him at R4 so any improvement works for me.
He looks particularly better from an offensive:burst perspective - his base Attack will rise, his battery charges significantly faster, and his damage increase during overdrive is much better (since it doesn't diminish as you run out of battery).
I don't see myself taking him to R2 over IMIW or Warlock, but on the other hand if he's one of your first 5*/6* pulls, at least he's now someone who is useable rather than someone to cry into your beer over.
One thing before he goes live though, Kabam: please boost up this synergy with Thor!
You've changed the others, and this synergy is just awful for Thor - Thor's Fury gives him a 35% Attack boost, so this synergy gives him an additional 3.5% attack for a small proportion of the match when he's got a Fury up: that's terrible for a unique synergy! Other unique synergies grant people +15% Attack, or Unblockable Specials, go Unstoppable, even Raise you from the dead!... At least make this synergy worth the time it takes to read!
I think Kabam nailed this buff down in an amazing way. So props to the Kabam devs.
He already had a decent kit, but his kit had too many negatives to it, such as draining too much battery after using certain effects (ex: Sp2, sp3, and heavy attack) and also that battery drained pretty quickly in overdrive and reduced his attack bonus accordingly. Couple that with his weak regen at the time. Armor break was pretty short and couldn't stack.
Now, with his buff, I can't tell you how happy I am with it.
Armor break has been increased from 10 to 15 seconds, and it will actually be 30 seconds as long as you have higher than 10% battery. It can now stack, meaning you can get 2 (maybe even more with a power boost or super aggressive gameplay) armor breaks on the opponent at once. And these armor breaks are nothing to look past. Their potency has been increased from 50% to 60%. To bring the armor breaks into perspective, Medusa's armor shattered (a very powerful ability) reduces armor by about 2500 armor. That is a very powerful ability and is her most well known ability. Punisher 2099's buffed armor break potency will also break the opponent's armor by about 2500 armor. Couple that with the fact that it can stack, that is now almost 5000 armor reduction. That is actually insanely awesome! It is double Medusa's armor shatter, an already epic ability! Also, the Red Skull synergy increases debuff duration by 60%, meaning all of his debuffs (armor break, heal block, power lock, disintegration) are gonna get a HUGE boost! His armor break debuff with this synergy will be a WHOPPING 48 second armor break! To put this into perspective, Symbiote Spidey, who has the longest armor break in the entire game, reduces armor by about 200 for 80 seconds. Punisher 2099 blows that armor reduction out of the roof with 12.5x the armor break potency, and 25x that armor break potency with 2 armor breaks. That is actually MINDBLOWING!
Another change I love is that now, his attack bonus remains at +150% attack throughout the entirety of overdrive mode. This is one of the biggest changes and it is amazing because you no longer have to spam sp1s to keep the battery up. His attack bonus between this +150% attack and the armor breaks will be awesome.
His heal block was a great mechanic and I like how they made it a bit more potent and that it now costs less battery.
His regeneration has been improved from 20% of max health to 35% of max health which is a great sustainability mechanic.
His heavy attack stun also drains only 10% battery now which is also really cool!
He starts with more battery and charges it faster which is awesome.
Now to the final change. And this one is crazy. During overdrive mode, the opponents gain 90% less power. With the buff, overdrive also drains slower, keeping it up for a longer period of time. It now drains at 1 battery per 0.5 seconds. That is a 50 second overdrive mode considering you don't throw any sp2s or sp3s. If you throw sp1s, that 50 second duration can even be increased. You know what that means? A 50+ second 90% power lock. That is absolutely mindblowinginly (don't even know if that's a word lol) epic. You can just backdraft intercept for days. I can't wait to have fun with this mechanic. Also, his sp3 disintegration lasts 20 seconds now which is double what it used to! It also got a bit of a damage bonus and also has that 90% power lock. There is so much to love in this guy's kit now!
I also absolutely love Punisher 2099's animations. He's super cool and really suits his profile as a character from the year 2099 with his advanced tech.
To wrap this up, for the Kabam devs, amazing job on the tune-up. I can't wait to r2 him and have fun with him in Act 6 content!
He seems like he's gonna be a very versatile champion now with a lot of damage and utility. Also, when I'm not going to be using him on attack, I'm sure he's gonna be one hell of a defender with that block damage from the specials.
That red skull synergy sounds good; but I'd expect it to be additive rather than multiplicative. So armour break 15 seconds, plus 15 seconds from battery, plus 9 seconds from RS. That's 39 seconds - still good, though.
Also his Power Control is all one-way - he'll reduce the power your opponent gets from being hit, but not if your opponent hits you, or has a Power Gain effect. It'll also mollify Energise nodes but won't let him go nuts: If the opponent has +100% Combat power gain, P2099 will reduce that to 'just' +10%.
I'm looking forward to trying him out to see how it all adds up, too.
