I just got iron patriot for my first 6 star, does anyone have an idea when we can see a buff?

    He needs awakening I think. it sucks
    Yup. The Red Goblin synergy is extremely helpful, but he'd need to be awakened to make use of it. It has not been stated officially anywhere that he is locked in to get a buff. Likely, but still anything can happen.
