Take him against champs who deal energy damage on basic attacks, or mystics. Blocking these attacks builds smoulder passives, which increase damage output.

He deals incinerates on his medium attacks and his first light attack, so parry, MLM is the best combo to fight with.

With despair he does some amazing heal reversal aswell

Pretty sure I haven't seen a placement with both miss and debuff immune. Also, debuff immune means torch won't be able to parry to charge heavy and get his temperature up, so your argument is flawed.

Or you could Bait a heavy? Also, he doesn’t just gain temperature from just heavy charging. Smolder gaining and specials also grant charges.
Stealthy is also vulnerable to debuff shrug offs. Torch’s miss counter isnt

Bait a heavy huh? Good luck countering Modok's kinda heavy. There's a lot of situations where you can gain smoulders if that champ had a node combo like tunnel vision and stun immunity. Special 1 only gives 5 temperature. He needs 10 to counter miss, and before you know it, you're back to zero.

Stealthy's miss counter is better because you don't even have to make contact with your opponent or take unnecessary risks to keep it up.

Make contact? Explain because I only know the method where he needs a whole 5 Hit combo.
