Gene splicing in AQ

I always use omega red w/ sabertooth synergy in AQ. I run suicides. That said,, this gene splicing "buff" is a mega debuff for my Omega Red. I know this is intended to be a boost for mutants but its the total opposite in my situation. Anybody else frustrated by this?
