Cannot apply two champions’ pre-fight abilities before the same fight

In AQ map 4 on 28-Dec-2020, before the first Mole-Man miniboss, I tried to apply pre-fight abilities to Sunspot from both White Magneto and Apocalypse. Both seemed to apply properly. But when the fight started, neither ability was active. See video below.
Also: when I got to the next fight, Magneto had lost 2 charges and Apocalypse had lost 4 charges. So the game charged me for using their abilities ... I just didn’t get the benefit of them.
