Armor shattered robots gaining power in Cav MEQ

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not but last night when I was exploring Cavalier MEQ 2.2 (tech path) while using Medusa I had armor shattered Ultron then later Darkhawk but they were continuing to gain power. I don't remember the exact phrasing of the node but I believe the defenders gained power while hitting into the opponent or opponent's block and power gained was doubled if zero damage was dealt hitting into a block but wouldn't this be cancelled when the robots were armor shattered?
