Rating numbers, whats the fuss?

I know that selling champs is a big no no for this, but why must you have a certain number to be even considered to join an alliance? I don't sell my champs and my rating in 285k ish. And I consider myself to be a decent player. As for my alt, its a much lower rating but still has decent champs and can do the same if not more than the higher rating players n my alts alliance. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

It depends what you want in an alliance. Higher alliances look at prestige too, and look besides rating. But its your game so if you wanna sell champs, do what you want, but its just in general people "discriminate" on rating. Just go for the prestige alliances
