Alliance Quest difficult ramp

Does anyone know how the difficulty ramp on AQ works? Defenders in the last round each session are almost twice the rating as the first round. Is that modified by playing the same Map, same modifiers, etc? This wouldn’t be so bad if rewards were adjusted to match.

Every week, your alliance starts with a certain Prestige. As you complete AQ, the prestige increases and if you fail to complete, you loose Prestige. That Prestige affects the health pools and attack of the opponents. Not significantly but it's noticeable after a few days.
