Falcon getting auto blocked in war by IMIW; working as intended?

I was fighting IMIW in war with falcon, he was locked on and IMIW was below 15% health and I got auto blocked, and then IMIW went straight into an L1 which I took right in the face since I was still in the middle of my combo.
The nodes were opportunist and kinetic reactor (node 22 I think). Is this a bug or is something else going on that I’m not understanding? I have noticed little things like this in the past where falcon doesn’t shut down things you think he would.
He reduces defensive abilities by 100% but from my perspective, what is a “defensive” ability is not always well defined. IWs invisibility, for example, falcon can still miss bc of her invisibility. So am I misunderstanding falcons abilities and is this working as intended? It’s just really annoying to not know when falcons lock down will work and when it won’t, so I don’t want to invest any more resources (I could take my 6* to R3 but it’s too inconsistent for me to commit).
