It's all about what champs you have to counter certain fights and nodes. Hopefully the image below will help you.
I did the resilience path for my first run through, but I've completed all paths now.

Just in case that image is unclear (I know there's a lot going on in it) you start at the star in the centre, then follow the coloured circle for which path you choose.
