Wanting to use generic rank up gem but class one shows

I have a generic 2017 3-4 rank up gem I want to use on cable. I also have a mutant 3-4 gem which I don’t want to use on him. When I go to rank up I only can choose the mutant one. Any advice or tips or is this just an issue that needs to be fixed?

I don't think they have any plans to fix it. I have seen this pop up on the forums multiple times in the past. I believe they always say to contact support but I am not 100% positive about that and have no idea if the support people, who never seem to know what you or they are talking about, will do anything.
