Unable to choose generic rank up gem to use

I have tech class rank up 2-> 3 gem and some generic rank up gem 2->3 will be expired soon,
There's no option for me to choose to use the generic one, instead the game automatically choose the class rank up gem for me.
it's funny i doesnt have the choice to decide which one i want to use in my inventory, the game decided for me instead...
Doesn't have the science rank up gem and it will allow me to use on science champ instead...Wat a joke...

The game defaults to class gems and I see threads about this every week. It’s been an ongoing problem since gems were released and judging by their roadmap, Kabam has no intention on fixing this.
