A quick(ish) write up on Mr Negative

Hey all! Mr. Negative has really intrigued me on paper so I decided to do a full write up on him. Enjoy! All stats are based off of a rank 3 5 star. Please also note at the time of writing this no gameplay for him has been released. Not a traditional write up per se, just a jumbled mash of my thoughts in a semi-comprehensional way of reading.

Things to note: Light Energy is gained by:

Either champ performs a well-timed block (+2)
Dashing back removing all buffs on Mr. Negative (+1 per buff removed)

Light Energy lasts indefinitely until it reaches 10 or more stacks, at which all stacks expire over 6 seconds.

Cap of 20 stacks

Dark Energy is gained by:
Heavy evading (with at least one light energy, charging a heavy gives a 100% chance to evade basic attacks, also counters with a hit dealing a burst of 1139 physical damage and giving the opponent power equal to that of a medium attack)

Throwing a special 1

Getting knocked down (wouldn’t exactly recommend)

Dark Energy lasts indefinitely until it reaches 10 stacks, then all stacks expire over 16 seconds. Max 20.

Each time you gain Dark Energy, inflict a delirium debuff lasting .8 seconds per Light Energy converted. While the opponent has this buff their dash and dodge controls are reveresed and defensive combat power rate is reduced by 60%.

Can’t gain Dark Energy while inflicted with Disorient.

So the rotation I’ve come up with is get 8 light energy, throw a special 1 to get 8 dark energy, then build up 8-9 light energy, heavy evade, and special 2 for big boy damage.

If you get 8 light energy, then throw your special 1, you’ve got 8 dark energy stored that won’t expire, a 20 second exhaustion debuff, a delirium debuff lasting for 6.4 seconds, and a bulwark passive increasing your block proficiency by a whopping 5,333.36.

Then, build up 8-9 more light energy, get to a special 2, heavy and do the evade to get 8 more dark energy giving you 16. Parry and throw the special 2.

Don’t know how fast these dark energy passives expire so I’ll say it’s pretty fast (and I don’t think they pause during specials)

For starters you’ll get both petrifies (160% regen and power rate reduction for twenty seconds)

I’m going assume worst case as stated above that they quickly expire. By now we’ll say we’ve got 10 left. Hit 3 inflicts degen number one, and hit four inflicts an additional 10 (again, could be higher depending on how fast they expire)

That’s 11 degens over ten seconds doing 19,899 direct damage. Saying we have 14 left gives us 27,135 direct damage.

And that’s not mentioning the small bits of extra damage and healing while degenerating from the sig, degen potency reduction, and immunity to Nullify, Stagger, and Fate Seal.

Speaking of, let’s talk about the sig.

The degeneration healing is nice, coupled with his ability to reduce degeneration potency by 40% for each unique debuff on the opponent. The Dark Energy damage, while not much, will still do something as you’ll have dark energy while they have a nondamaging debuff (special 1 exhaustion) dealing (at max sig) 670 physical damage. Also with the above rotation you’ll get 1,391.36 energy resistance for a decent amount of time as well at max sig since you’ll have 8 light energy a decent amount of the time.

With his immunities dealing extra burst damage, he’s going to be fun against mystics (and I’d assume have some fun interactions with buffet)

Synergies:
He has a unique one with Venom (and someone else) that lets him gain an indefinite regeneration buff healing 1% health per second when he reaches 10 light energy once per fight. Venom gets the better end of this deal since as soon as you dash back the buff is gone.

He’s also got one with Dormammu and Hood that gives him a 50% chance to inflict a 2 second enervate when applying delirium. Again, not a lot of benefit here, but this is nice.

He has a synergy on Shang-Chi that give degeneration debuffs inflicted on the special 2 a 10% chance to inflict a copy of themselves. Shang-Chi gets a falter passive on the opponent after a perfect dodge for 2 seconds. This isn’t going to do much but it’s still nice.

All in all, he definitely seems a fun champ with lots of damage potential and some really nice utility. I will also admit he does seem to have a fairly high skill cap with his heavy evade mechanic, but one worth the master.

    Great write up!!

    @SpideyFunko don’t read this

    I didn’t read it :(

    Anyone wanna give cliffnotes
there’s a couple ways but i think this one will be a tad easier for those that aren’t comfortable with the heavy evade mechanic

Get 10 light energy, launch special 1. Get just under 10, reach 2 bars, heavy-evade, launch special 2, watch opponent melt
