**WINTER OF WOE - BONUS OBJECTIVE POINT**
As previously announced, the team will be distributing an additional point toward milestones to anyone who completed the Absorbing Man fight in the first step of the Winter of Woe.
This point will be distributed at a later time as it requires the team to pull and analyze data.
The timeline has not been set, but work has started.
There is currently an issue where some Alliances are are unable to find a match in Alliance Wars, or are receiving Byes without getting the benefits of the Win. We will be adjusting the Season Points of the Alliances that are affected within the coming weeks, and will be working to compensate them for their missed Per War rewards as well.

Additionally, we are working to address an issue where new Members of an Alliance are unable to place Defenders for the next War after joining. We are working to address this, but it will require a future update.

Opening crystals sucks

Yesterday arni2 wrote on Twitter that one of the biggest problems in the game is the opening of the crystals and their algorithm. No one can explain to me that since the last 4 openings I get 3 times the same hero, there is simply no formula by which someone will explain it to me. There are currently 130+ 6 * heroes and I get the same from the last 4 openings. It simply discourages people from spending money on this game

You're correct in your assumption that there is no formula.

It's called RNG - Random Number Generator - once you load into the spinner or press the open button, a number in that 1 - 130 range is selected using RNG and you get the corresponding champ.

We all have bad runs, it's part of the game. You can easily find a lot of posts like yours if you search the forum.

They could at least set up a crystal that there’s a better chance of getting a hero you don’t have

Isn’t this going to be the wish crystal everybodys been waiting on?

I got 3 Nightcrawlers in a row from 5* featured crystals. It always depends on what champ you pull. I wouldn't mind pulling 3 Stryfes (in a row) I guess.

I've pulled 6* Corvus back to back.
I've pulled 6* Cull back to back.
I've pulled 6* Cyclops back to back to back.

It's all RNG. It just feels rigged when it's BAD RNG. 😆

I pulled back to back nebula. This was after spending so much time grinding 6* shards to open one crystal, and completing the john mulaney challenge using 1k units (my account was a lot smaller at the time) just to pull her again. The 5* nexus was all dupes too, no chances at a new champ. Sucked bad but yeah, bad rng

    It is all random.

My guess is that they use a pseudo random number generator and they don't randomize the seed. Using the same seed results in the same sequence.

Between sessions (and probably between screen transitions) they will re-seed. But anecdotally, I've found that opening a bunch of crystals results in more dupes than single crystal openings.

I'm almost positive Kabam's RNG would not stand up to RNG required for crypto.
This has long been a theory—and why I typically use the acronym pRNG to describe the process.

The idea of seed refresh is something that would explain a fair amount of the “clumpiness” in a lot of crystal pull results. Whether that’s it or not, or whether that’s a part of it, we aren’t likely to ever know. The particulars of their engine are Kabam’s and there’s no requirement or reason to disclose anything.

There isn’t any explanation. The best thing you can do is view the crystal opening as another casino type system, that’s as closest I can get you to view it like that.

I can pull any champ I want due to my special rituals my precognitive abilities, it's just that I like duping terrible champs that I have no use for.

Go watch some of COWhales old videos. You won't believe in any algorithm after watching those.

You're only on here asking about it because you got a champ you didn't want 3 times. If you duped Ghost 3 out of 4 times would you still have posted this?

When it's good pulls the person is 'lucky', but when it's bad pulls the crystal is 'rigged'

I once had an Mp3 player with about 2000 tracks on it. I use the shuffle feature which would randomise the play list. Yet sometimes it would play the same songs over and over. I worked out that what it did was to rather than randomise the 2000 tracks. It would take a portion of them, like 50 and the created a random play list with only these and unless you did a reshuffle it would carry on playing the same 50.

I do wonder sometimes, when I pulled a champ back to back or the same class 4 times in a row, whether there's something similar going on here. Just feels like it's far too common that people pull back to back if the odds really are 196 to 1 or whatever it is.

I don’t even expect much from crystal openings. Just pop and go. Sometimes I luck out, most of the time this “rng” manages to dupe the most unnecessary characters.

But alas...a wise man once said “it be like that.”

That’s how random works, there isn’t really a fair way to make the algorithm give you something specific as everyone wants something different. Theoretically you could get omega red 3 times in a row.

This also brings up a good point. I want a 6* SIM and OG spidey, really bad. I always have. But I haven't gotten either of them yet. Does that make me unlucky, because I haven't gotten who I wanted, or lucky, because I've gotten champs who are more useful? Everyone wants something different. Sure, it was cool pulling torch 4 times, but I still want SIM more, so that technically makes me unlucky with my pulls

No I don't? If that were the case, I would be very upset. I recently pulled the featured 6* crystal two times In a row, I was hunting for ibom and got lucky and pulled him! I kept pulling because I really wanted awakening him and I got very fortunate to pull him again!! If the crystals were weighted away from duplicating champions I would have to pull most of the entire cycle of champions to stand a chance at duplicating him.

The same story would apply for silver surfer, who is my next target. I want him and awaken.

It happens man. I know it sucks but you just gotta keep on going with it. According to mcoc-guide.com, there are 161 6* champions. And according to my calculations, you had a 1/671898241 chance to get 4 of the same champs in a row. You can consider yourself lucky for hitting that mark, or unlucky for getting 4 champs in a row.

My advice is, do not complain and learn some math first. There are tons of books on variation, permutation, statistics and stuff like that. You can find your answers there better than here
