Loss of Horseman ability in incursions

I was running zone 8 incursions, and running a team of 5/65 colossus, 2/35 BWCV, and 5/1 apocalypse. I brought apoc to make colossus a horseman and then planned on swapping out apoc for someone higher level. I swear I’ve seen this done in some youtuber’s incursion runs, but when I swapped out apoc for Hyperion, colossus lost his horseman ability. Is this a bug or do you lose horseman if you don’t have apoc anymore on the team?
