Worth hoarding?

I was informed by my alliance mates that opening any gold crystals during summoners appreciation event gives some bonus amount of gold. I've never got a chance to be a part of this event before. So should i hoard the crystals? Does it happen every year?

    Hoarding is never a bad idea, imo as a hoarder of most items and crystals!

    It's not like gold accrues interest, so it makes sense to hoard until we get a gold boost. Unless you need it right now, anyways.
