Demogoblin Design Idea

Demogoblin was one of my favorite characters when I was a kid. Loved that dude. I thought it would be fun to write up a suggestion of how he could be designed as a mystic goblin.

I wanted to design him as someone who tries to punish evil-doers, but ultimately kind of sees everyone as sinners worthy of a demonic pumpkin bomb to the face. He starts off with an advantage vs #Villains and a disadvantage vs. #Heroes, but succumbs to his fanaticism as the quest drags on and lessens the gap between the two.

While he is a ramp-up champion to an extent, I gave him the ability to ramp up even if other members on his team defeat opponents (as long as he has defeated at least one prior to that). I think that alleviates some of the annoyance that comes with ramp-up champions.


Class: Mystic

Signature Ability - Cleanse With Hellfire

If one of Demogoblin’s Incinerate effects fails to trigger on a #Villain champion, he has a 20% chance to place a Hellfire passive on them instead. These passive effects deal no damage but last for as long as the Incinerate would have and count as Incinerate effects for his other abilities.

Each time a Pumpkin Bomb Debuff expires, place an Incinerate Debuff on the opponent for 6 seconds.

Wrath of the Righteous

On a demonic mission to kill all sinners, Demogoblin starts the Quest with an advantage against #Villains and a disadvantage against #Heroes. As he and his team defeat opponents, his fanaticism grows and his disadvantage against #Heroes grow weaker.

At the start of the Quest, each Incinerate effect placed on #Villain champions reduce their Offensive Ability Accuracy by 3% and the potency of any Power Gain effects by 5%. These effects cap at 24 and 40%, respectively.

At the start of the Quest, Incinerate effects placed on #Hero champions deal 20% reduced damage and do not affect Offensive Ability Accuracy or Power Gain effects in any way.

Each opponent defeated by either Demogoblin or his team in the Quest, after he has defeated at least one opponent himself, increases the damage and duration of his Incinerate Debuffs by 10% and reduces his opponent’s Offensive Ability Accuracy and Power gain effects by a further flat 5%.

At 5 stacks, Demogoblin's fanaticism reaches its peak and he no longer differentiates between #Heroes and #Villains. From there on, he gains the same bonuses regardless of who he fights.

Brimstone Birthright - Passive

Hailing from the demonic dimension of Limbo, Demogoblin is fully immune to all Incinerate effects and all of his attacks are considered Energy-based.

Should he suffer from either Degeneration or passive Energy damage, he regenerates 115% of the damage dealt to him afterward and places a 115% Petrify Debuff on the opponent for the duration of the damaging effect.

Goblin Glider

While Demogoblin is atop his Goblin Glider, every Incinerate effect on his opponent increases his Incinerate damage by 15% and passively generates 0,25% Power every second.

Both of these effects cap at 8 Incinerates, and Demogoblin’s passive Power Gain automatically stops when he is above 2 Bars of Power.

If Demogoblin is knocked down by a Heavy or Special Attack, he loses his passive Power Gain and increased Incinerate damage. Instead, he Power Drains the opponent for 3% Power for each Incinerate or Hellfire effect on them over 5 seconds. This Purifies any such effects from the opponent and starts a 12-second cooldown before he can get up on his Glider again.

Heavy Attacks

Places an Incinerate on the opponent and switches Demogoblin’s active Pumpkin Bomb between Orange, Black and Wraith Bombs.

Pumpkin Bombs

Multiple instances of the same Bomb do not affect the duration of their respective Debuffs, except for the Stun. If multiple Black Bombs stack, each additional stack increases the potency of the Petrify by 100%. If multiple instances of Wraith Bombs stack, each Missed attack results in one Degeneration effect per Wraith Bomb.

Orange Bombs

Stuns the opponent for 2 seconds and Nullifies a Buff. Nullified Buffs place a Power Sting on the opponent for 6 seconds.

Black Bombs

Places a 75% Petrify Debuff on the opponent for 7 seconds and Nullifies up to 2 Buffs. Nullified Buffs place a Stagger Debuff on the opponent for 10 seconds.

Wraith Bombs

Places a Falter Debuff on the opponent for 3 seconds. Each attack the opponent Misses deals Degeneration damage. The Falter Debuff is paused during Special Attacks.

Special Attack 1

Throws the active Pumpkin Bomb. If any Pumpkin Bomb effects are already active, refresh them as well.

Special Attack 2

Throws two Bombs of the currently active type and then douses the opponent in Hellfire. Hellfire deals Incinerate damage and reduce Block Proficiency by 100% for 7 seconds, making the opponent unable to Block attacks.

If the opponent is Incinerate immune, Hellfire does no damage but still reduces Block Proficiency.

Special Attack 3

Places a Slow Burn Debuff on the opponent, increasing the duration of Incinerate effects by 50% for 12 seconds.

Slow Burn is refreshed every time one of the opponent’s Buffs are Nullified.

Every time Slow Burn is refreshed, it also increases Incinerate damage by 15%. Max 150%.

Synergies

Ronan - Judge

When fighting #Villains, Special Attacks have a 33% chance per Bar of Power spent to place a Degeneration Debuff on the opponent for each Buff of theirs.

Magik - Jury

While fighting #Villains, place a passive Heal Block on them while in Limbo.

Carnage - Executioner

While below 20% health when fighting #Heroes, gain a Regeneration Buff healing 10% health over 6 seconds if knocked down by a Heavy or Special Attack while Mutating.
