Once you learn how to play with it, bane actually helps you because it's like a permanent degen on your opponent.

Just practice on the first fight until you get the timing down. You have to end combos early often so you can be in the middle of another combo when the timer flips, and you have to be careful not to be baiting specials when it flips. I thought 5.2.5 was actually easier than 5.2.4 once you get used to it.
