OG Iron Man Rework

Having sigged 60 my 6* Iron Man this week, I began theorycrafting to make myself feel better. Kabam stated in its Roadmap that 6* characters should feel valuable, and that the canon of a character matters. Below is an idea to bring Iron Man up to his proper status as a pillar of the Marvel Universe and bring a new gameplay mechanic into being that matches the Tech class persona - the persistent charge strip.

Intro

Tony Stark is the king of tech and one liners. His tactical mind makes him more effective as a fight goes on, and his Mark-IV suit provides him with a range of offensive and defensive abilities for taking on the Contest’s strongest villains.

Kit

Passive:

Energy attacks that make Contact with Iron Man help power his suit, granting him 3% of a bar of power when blocking or being struck by such an attack.

Additionally, Iron Man gains a Fury Passive every second that grants him 8 additional attack damage (scaling to 20 on rank up). These passive can stack up to 100. Upon reaching 100, Iron Man eliminates one persistent charge from the opponent and resets his fury passives to zero. This ability enters a 25 second cooldown after resetting.

Special 1: If the last attack was a Heavy attack, grant an Armor Up buff lasting 13 seconds and increasing armor by 750. If the last attack was a Light or Medium attack, inflict an Armor Break lasting 13 seconds and reducing Armor by 1300.

Special 2: If the last attack was a Heavy attack, grant a Regeneration buff lasting 15 seconds and recovering 900 health. If the last attack was a Light or Medium attack, inflict a Heal Block debuff lasting 15 seconds.

Special 3: If the last attack was a Heavy attack, grant a Cruelty buff lasting 20 seconds and increasing Critical Damage by 1250. If the last attack was a Light or Medium attack, inflict a Fatigue debuff lasting 20 seconds and decreasing Critical Damage by 1250.

If Iron Man’s fury passive counter is not at 100, set it to 100. If it is in cooldown, end the cooldown.

Sig Ability: JUICE ME UP JARVIS - Iron Man maximizes the abilities of his armor, allowing him to gain an additional 1% of a bar of power on Energy attacks (scaling up to 7% on sig level).

Iron Man also reduces the cooldown of his fury counter by 10% (scaling to 60% on sig level).

Synergies:

I LOOK GOOD with Iron Man, Superior Iron Man, Iron Man Infinity War, Hulkbuster: Increase the potency of Armor Up buffs by 50% for each Iron Man on your team.

THROW DOWN THE GAUNTLET with Thanos, Hulk, Mister Fantastic, Captain America, Black Panther: Once per fight, dash back and hold block for 1 second to activate Aspect of Genesis. Aspect of Genesis regenerates 2250 health over 20 seconds while degenerating the opponent for 2250 health over 20 seconds.

NEMESIS with Iron Patriot, Diablo, Ultron: Grant all teammates 6% attack.

O CHILD OF MINE with Ultron: Ultron’s Absorption of Energy Attacks now grants him 3% of a bar of power in addition to health. Iron Man’s Absorption now allows
him to regenerate 20% of health lost on Energy attacks.

Conclusion

This revamp introduces a powerful new mechanic of stripping persistent charges that make the new Iron Man a unique meta-worthy champ befitting his character. In a standard 3 minute fight, Iron Man can reliably strip 1 persistent charge with the potential for 2 with the right loop. With his signature ability or when facing Energy-based opponents, he has the capability to strip 3 charges.

This unique ability makes him a invaluable AW offense champ against Apocalypse and Mojo bosses, while making him a potentially tricky AW defense champ. Corvus players will have to consider the gamble of gaining two charges on a defending Iron Man without taking too long to lose one charge.

His reliable access to crit damage, health and armor stand in keeping with his tech class while providing the player utility. His synergies help enhance his loop and the attributes of other 6* champions currently available.

I like that persistent charge stripping! I think that's a really cool ability that could come in handy in all kinds of different circumstances.
