Hello everyone. I have a mutant 5* gem and my roster is Magneto X, Omega red, Sabertooth, Storm X. Iceman, Storm, Gambit, psylock, cyclops red. I also have about 80 mutaunt sigs. Should I use it on omega or save for someone like AA or namor.
ON a side note. I know omega is great for fights like korg and others. What nodes is he good for. Im on 6.2.5 btw.

My four star absolutely carried me through act4, act5. Still don't have the five star hides tear
My 4* caried me from act 4ish through act 5
Now my 5* one is doing the same for act 6
Among AA, Namor and OM, I prefer AA as he is versatile in various content.
Also, suicide is definitely a big plus for OM but I think he is still good without it. He is similar to Corvus in this respect.
Others Malreck have already mentioned.
Obviously he’s better with suicides. But how much better? Does he need them?
He is quite significantly better, but doesn’t quite *need* them, at least, not as much as his awakened ability (and high sig), in my opinion.
Suicides allows him to start the fight with the death field, for upto 16 seconds based on the level of double edge. With this, you can easily get 20+ without trying too hard to stay close. If you stay close the entire time, or maybe bring the sabretooth synergy, it’s easy to get to 30. But it’s not just the spore count, it’s the actual death field damage too.
Death field damage scales with spore count. So more spores, more passive damage. Same with his heavy attack degen. So if you reach 20 spores, you’ll be dealing about 1800 passive direct damage per second, on top of whatever sig you bring him to. That’s a great amount of damage for the start of the fight. You can easily get thousands of damage from that initial burst which is really nice. However I’d argue this next line is even better.
Flow, and how his spores persist through the fight. You see, getting to 10 spores and placing that heavy degen is just fine. But getting 20 and placing it, well not only have you earned more damage, but it’s also more ‘wiggle room’ in case they fall off, so you don’t lose as much damage if some spores fall off. So in this way, it’s not just about the initial burst, it’s also about keeping up that damage continuously throughout the fight.
On top of this, a higher spore count you have when throwing your first sp2 will equate to more death field damage. Consider this. If you don’t run suicides, what’s the max amount of spores you’ll have when you throw the sp2? 10. If you stay very aggressive and build the max amount of spores while the sp2 death field is active, you’ll get upto 30 right when it ends. Now that’s not all realistic, but we’ll give it the benefit of the doubt for now. That means that it’ll scale damage from 10 spores to 30.
Now with suicides. Let’s again say you throw the sp2 with 20 spores. After half of the death field’s duration, you’ll be at 30 spores. So not only is the initial 5 seconds much stronger damage output wise (because you have more spores), but you’ve then maintained those 30 spores within the death field for another 5 seconds, equating to a lot more additional damage.
(You also get the willpower healing from double edge which heals about 11% health)
That’s the main thing with suicides. It’s definitely stronger, and it’s worth getting for him, but he’s not terrible without them. In fact, he’s still very good with them. He doesn’t lose much damage output in the grand scheme of things, just some damage here and there. I ran omega without suicides for a couple of months, then with suicides. The difference is most certainly present, but it wasn’t like I’d be playing a whole new champion, not like corvus (that guy really is a new champ with suicides imo).
As far as utility goes, no question he’s got it in spades. He has the most potent purify AAR in the game, upto 300% scaling with spores. It’s very easy to maintain via the heavy degen, to keep spores at 10+ for the 100% reduction. Beyond this he also has a really great thorns counter, so he can counter korg, electro, magik, and nodes like pressure gauge and special delivery. It’s a really nice ability and it’s something that I’ve always liked a lot about him.
I’ll quickly go back to spores because it’s an impotent talking point with omega. Of course, staying aggressive is very important to maintain spores. You can throw that heavy degen which lasts 7 seconds, and most of the time it can be enough to bait a special and then go back in to keep up your spores. So what happens if they start to fall off? There are a few things I like to do.
1. Wait out your parry stun. This allows you to get an extra spore or two.
2. Slow combos. You don’t need to repeatedly spam your light attack button, you can press it after each attack is performed for a slower combo, to apply a couple more spores.
3. Everything adds up. You can try and bring along the red guardian synergy to start with a few spores to get you going, sabretooth synergy to increase the rate at which they apply, or the guardian one with sabretooth that allows omega to get perfect block parries 3 times, extending the parry stun duration to fit in multiple spores within that stun, utilising the first point about waiting it out.
Spores are integral to your damage output. Maintaining them is very important. Spores are also used for omega’s excellent sustainability.
Sp1 heals a very nice amount if you have spores. It heals about 0.65% of your health per spore, so that’s almost 20% of your health with 30 spores. I usually don’t recommend using the sp1 if you have a high spores count, especially in the middle of the fight, since if it gets to that, the sp3 is almost always better in my opinion.
Personally I use my sp1 almost exclusively at the end of the fight, since it doesn’t affect your damage output. As long as your sp1 doesn’t actually KO them, you’ll get the healing and then the spores will be removed. This allows you to get a quick top up before you finish the fight.
Alternatively, if you’re sub 10% health and you NEED health, but have almost no power and don’t think you’ll make it to an sp3, you can prolong the fight and throw sp1s to get your health upto a comfortable 30% or so, after throwing one or two. I don’t usually recommend this but if you’re near death, it can save you.
The sp3 is very good for fights where you’re between 30-60%. The sp3 life and power steals, for 1.13% health per spore and 3% of current power per spore. At 30 spores, that’s 33.9% health. This can really heal you up fast and efficiently. Again, I usually recommend using this at the end of the fight, if you’re kinda close to an sp3 and are in the optimal health range, below 60% or so. It also power steals which is very nice. This means you can throw it when the opponent has very high power, and you’ll steal it and gain some for yourself - very useful and keeps the specials going for either more sustainability or more damage when you build spores.
I think that’s all I wanted to say. Just with his sig, the main part is that damage, upto 1949.6 per second, 975 per tick, consistently. Very nice just to have passively. You also get upto a 30% chance to go unblockable on your tentacle hits which is nice for staying aggressive and keeping those spores up, especially when you combine this with slow combos. He’s definitely worth the sigs. His scaling is pretty linear so as many as possible. While the 975 per tick doesn’t seem like a whole lot, it really is. After just 20 seconds of fighting, that’s passively dealt nearly 40k damage. When you plus the heavy attack degen, his basic hits (which get a lot stronger with the colossus/wolverine synergy, 4% crit damage per spore) and then the death field of course is a great source of damage.
He’s got so much going for him. Very good without suicides, a monster with suicides.
(This post is my opinion)
Also keep in mind Omega's playstyle is a bit tricky. "Just stay close" is easier said than done in some cases. You def need to play him a lot to Master him (like Ghost)
