I normally wouldn't bring 4*s into a variant, but since you have a decent chunk of great ones I'd still look into the villain one. Venom, Doom and Magneto can carry you far in that one. It's so cheesy at times that it might even matter if they are 4*s since you can just heavy-spam a lot of enemies into oblivion.

If you bring Mr. Fantastic, Doom will be able to armor break the enemies which will be a cheese fiesta. I don't think I ever even used any other villain for that variant, at least not on initial completion. Venom, Doom and Magneto just crush everything. I had so much fun.
