Does energy/physical resistance lower damage while blocking!?

For comparison, guardian at max sig is 8791, Mordo at max sig is 19856. It’s crazy

Yes
You'll notice that you'll have reduced block damage against energy attacks if you use
Champ's with high energy resistance like Guardian, bishop, havoc e.t.c

Yeah i was testing a sig 100 Mordo and while his overall block proficiency was complete trash, his crazy high energy block saves him vs anything energy. Even an Apoc with about 19k attack he is able to take very little block damage.

I wouldnt use the energy resist mastery tho, it's not worth it for such little amounts. You're better off going with champs who can get for have high energy resist like Yellowjacket, War Machine, Guardian, Bishop, etc etc (War Machine can give other champs high energy resist also like Hulkbuster, G2099, etc)

So to be clear is this the case for physical resistance? Should I stay away from these masteries?

My criteria is ofcourse incoming damage while blocking
