So I finally got around to testing it with my Pixel 6. You have to disable Smooth Display. With that setting enabled, I was consistently getting dropped inputs. But with it disabled, the game is very very very smooth. I can dex everything again (apoc's sps, etc.), load screens are fast, and champs with heavy animations do not cause lag (e.g., prof X, Annihilius, etc.).
I'm very happy with this. Once MCOC is optimized with the new Tensor chip, I will test it with Smooth Display and play around with some of the Game Center settings. But till then, disabling Smooth Display is the way to go and the experience has been flawless.
in terms of load time and smooth graphics (excluding input lag) how much of a decrease do you see when turning off smooth display? I have Pixel 4 XL and the difference is not a big deal but noticeable. Noticeable enough that load times are a couple seconds faster and the animations look smoother. But obviously the ability to play outweighs all that. But anyways curious if you can provide a little more detail on that for me?
Also most games work fine on Smooth Display, it's just MCOC isn't optimized for Android (don't think it's a chip thing) since all androids that run above 60 hz seem to suffer.

As far as load time and graphics, I don't recall because I stopped using the pixel 6 early (was in AW so used my old phone). And then when I was experimenting with Smooth Display, I wasn't paying attention to load times and graphics so I can't recall in detail. But I will say that when I first ran the game on the Pixel 6 (with Smooth Display on since it's default), I was very impressed with how everything loaded. Even now, the game loads pretty fast (with Smooth Display disabled), but I don't get wowed as I did when I first loaded. Maybe it's b/c I disabled the Smooth Display or because now I'm used to the Pixel 6? I'm not sure. Additionally, I have not yet experienced animation lag (e.g., fighting Prof X or Annihilus) with the Pixel 6 (even with Smooth Display disabled).
With your comment about optimization, I think you're right and I was a bit confused by that at first. I just mentioned it because in the Play Store it said optimized for Pixel 6, so I just figured it was referring to the Tensor since that's the decisive difference between Pixel 6 and other Androids. But when you look at the settings, it seems like it's more concerned about the refresh rate. I haven't had the time (or the interest) to look any further than this.
Disabling Smooth Display fixes the issue with throwing a heavy attack instead of the 5th hit combo occasionally which pretty much made the gameplay very frustrating. It also fixes the issue with motion jerking at the beginning of the fight. Overall the game loads quickly and I don't seem to miss Smooth Display.
Last night I fired up the game as usual, lo and behold! With no warning, the better graphics were back! Kabam, can we get some reasoning behind why the better graphics come and go outside of updates/with updates and why they went in the first place? You can keep some of the terrible environmental effects, those just make it harder to see. We have plenty of horsepower to run peak graphics and add more transparencies, warps, and particle effects. Go nuts! The current effects are pretty subdued.
Hey guys! Sorry to necro this thread but my phone broke and I'm in a bit of a sticky situation (I am not loaded)
Looking for an affordable replacement, and seen you can get a pixel 6a for under £300. Anyone still using it that can let me know how the game performs? Thanks.
It runs ok on a Pixel 6, the tensor chip is a bit underwhelming. It is certainly playable, but just decent and not great. Occasional hang ups or graphic glitches.
I'm now on a Pixel 7, and the tensor 2 chip is better and smoother.

Not sure if you have phones from Redmi / IQOO / Realme over your region but those phones gives best bang for buck in terms of performance /display and battery

Nah i was thinking of Redmi. Just reversed. Global versions have the playstore while the Chinese version doesn't. I thought it was the other way around

@tnair2015 thanks. My phone that broke was a Xiaomi and it did have a few issues with the game that I put down to lack of optimisation and MIUI being pretty rough.

What device do you use and how does it perform?
Currently using Redmi note 12 pro, works very good.

I'm also looking for a replacement and I'm currently looking at the oneplus nord 3. Friend of mine has the oneplus nord 2T and is happy. Does anyone have any insights?
