The Month of December

Let me start off by saying that this post is completely subjective and I don't expect anyone else to feel the same way as I do.
There's still about 15 more days to go for the month to end and I'd just like to address how this month has been so far for me.

Now getting to the point, Kabam, as usual, has had hits and misses this month and surprisingly December has been decent for me, as a free to play Cavalier player, compared to the last few months. However, as expected, Kabam has had a couple of screw ups this month too.

Dethroned Event + Arenas: Amazing. This has to be the highlight of the month so far. The 5* shards arena itself wasn't exceptional (nonetheless, still an improvement from last time), the Dethroned solo event was what made me actually want to grind the arenas. Really nice rewards (maybe not for players with a stacked 6* roster and tens of thousands of units), but for a f2p player like me, this was huge. Kabam did a really good job with this event.

Anniversary Calender: Great. The Cavalier calender was definitely really nice and the TB calender was even better. No complaints from my end. Kudos to Kabam for this.

Side Quests: Again, really good job with this month's side quests, Kabam! The difficulty was just right and the rewards were nice. The amount of cavalier crystal shards you get from these quests are wonderful

Event Quests: I'm not gonna dive too deep into this as it has already been discussed, but this month's EQ was just terrible. Not fun and definitely not worth the time and resources. I commend Kabam's attempt at trying something different, but this was a huge miss. Never again, Kabam. Please.

Event Cav Crystals: Now, while I do appreciate the amount of shards we have gotten so far this month, it has been rather pointless. The crystal pool has been rather underwhelming. A couple of good champs, but the rest are horrible.

Trade-in Store: This wasn't all bad. For a hoarder like me, it was pretty decent considering I got to exchange all of my 3* and 4* resources for 5*s. For non-hoarders, however, this store must have been a nightmare. I was excited about being able to trade my class based AGs for a generic AG, but of course, Kabam had to screw us over. I honestly don't see how any player is supposed to be okay with 3 class based gems for 1 generic 5* gem, unless they have all or most of the 5*s awakened. The 6* AG trades were a joke too but I'm not gonna bother mentioning it after Kabam's latest pathetic response

I really hope the next 2 weeks of December is going to be just as good, if not better, for the community. Please do not disappoint us, Kabam.

I actually really enjoyed the eq

Agree, except for the Luke Cage boss at least. I also think they need to re-eval the Merc/GOTG path to change the nodes or add another tag like X-men or whatever. I ended up using Apoc for most of the fights, which is fine but does not enable me to take adv of the nodes.

I didn't like the EQ at first, but then I realized I could just use regular champs and it enjoyed it much more. Except Tigra boss.

Those were the two pain points for me as well. Luke Cage, while by no means impossible, did seem overtuned to the quest difficulty. And the Merc/GotG quest just didn’t encourage use of the crossfight. I used Hood for it and he did very well for me.

One f2p's UC opinion: Fairly good month. Although I still feel that the access to 6* stuff is way more restricted than it would need to be.
OP presents an understandable view of the trade-in store. True, the way it has been designed may be viewed as controversial by some (my humble group of 6* would really appreciate an AG but as an UC, I'm lightyears away from 2 or 3 5* AGs, not speaking of 5). However, I see this store as a missed opportunity in terms of shards/champ crystals. I believe that many would be excited by offers like 2000 3* shards for an ultimate crystal and similar options for legendary and mythic crystals. Or just a way to exchange some X* shards for a certain amount of (X+1)* shards... Even if it would cost a few units on top...

2* arenas - nice ones, I agree. They could keep their 1-2* crystals, but it isn't a major nuisance to open them, open champs screen to get rid of badge, open profile picture screen to get rid of another badge, and never look back :)

Anniversary nexus crystals - not sure if I should be mad. The unit cost of 2x 3-5* crystals is the same as 2x 3-6* crystals. I get that Cavaliers and above have done some extra work, but it still has slightly bitter aftertaste as many other tiered offers have tiered costs, too. At least mine yielded 2x dupe of 4* Bishop (all other options were 3*, no wonder).

We shouldn't omit the botched gold bonus communication. The original announcement was vague at best (bordering with outright misleading). Subsequent missing in-game confirmation combined with Kabam forum post were a catastrophe in making. The PR team clearly had not understood what the developer team tried to explain them, and had not presented the draft to the devs for a review. Here we need to understand that an average Kabam employee most likely isn't a Thronebreaker player as well. Therefore, thinking that they have detailed knowledge of the game features and mechanics would be far-fetched. That being said, I believe that more rigorous review process of announcements before they get published is necessary.
Nevertheless, I doubt that the recent situation demands significant compensations, if any - the players who had jumped the gun after Kabam forum post got their gold based on altered (in favour of higher) yield rates and original (lower) yield values. The ones who had waited have got amounts per original (lower) yield rates with higher yield values. I can imagine a pop-up for those early openers saying 'you have opened those and those crystals during affected period, yielding X gold. Our communication about the implemented changes to crystal mechanics was regretfully not clear enough at that time, although that doesn't necessarily mean that you had got less gold than under current conditions. Do you want to have those openings reversed so the X amount of gold would be removed from your resources and the crystals would be reinstated to your inventory with the current yield values and rates? Please rest assured that we regret the misunderstanding and offer our sincere apologies.'
