Alliance Gifting Event Payout question

Hello,
I couldn’t find the info but wanted to see if someone could point me in the right direction for an answer.
With the rank rewards for alliance gifting scheduled to pay out January 6th does this mean people will need to stay in the ally until the payout happens? I only ask because I am a leader and have a couple of players wanting to join my ally before war season starts which is January 5th. However I did not want them to leave their ally early and cause them to miss out on the rank rewards from the ally gifting event. Any thoughts or links to posts with the answer would be appreciated!
