Odins pre fight ability buffs failing to apply in Alliance Quest

I run the buffed up lane in map8 of alliance quest. To be able to damage the opponents both you and they must have a minimum of 3 buffs applied. To allow me to use champs that don’t naturally gain buffs I selected to use Odin and apply his 3 pre fight ability buffs to another hero in my team. This works well but for some reason the pre fight buffs will randomly not be applied to my champ for a fight and I can do nothing except quit the fight as without the buffs I cannot damage my opponent.
Before anyone comments and states the obvious that I could use champs with naturally occurring buffs but the reality is I should be able to rely on the game and champion abilities to work the way they are intended otherwise what is the point of releasing champs with these abilities into the game?
